Colostrum - Tried nipple stim and only got 1 drop from a pump. Worried about it not being enough for baby?
Hey Ladies,
Thanks for taking the time to read. I was doing nipple stimulation with my breastpump the other night to try to induce before medical induction. I did 10 minutes on each breast. Both of them only had a drop or two of colostrum. So now I'm worried that it won't be enough for baby (which will be here Thursday). I'm very anti-formula so that just isn't an option. Anyone have the same experience or anything to shed some light on this? Thanks in advance. 
Once your baby is born, you will produce sufficient colostrum to feed it. Colostrum comes in very tiny doses, and a pump is not as efficient as a baby at extracting milk from the breast. Don't worry about it, keep your child close to your skin a lot at first and feed on demand. Find a local La Leche League or other breastfeeding support group, it is great to have people to talk to and give you moral support in the first days.
