Baby Bottle for Feeding
You can usually get two different sized bottles. A smaller one which will contain 5 ounces/142ml for small babies, and 9 ounce/255ml for when your baby can consume more milk. As your baby gets older, the use of the bottle will become much less frequent. Yet each bottle will contain more formula or breast milk, as their little stomachs can take much more! Your baby may even begin to hold the baby's bottles, for themselves! This is the first signs of your baby becoming independent. Although they will still like to cuddle up to mummy for their night time feeds.
When cleaning your baby's bottles, you can clean them in warm soapy water, and then place them in a bottle sterilizer or use special sterilizing tablets inside the bottles. It is very important to sterilize your baby's bottles up until the age of one for health and safety reasons.
Baby bottles come in a variety of makes, shapes and sizes. Some have pictures on, or are different colours. But at the end of the day, they all do the same job and that is to feed your baby his milk.
Mothers that breast feed can also use bottles if they express their milk into the baby's bottles. This makes it easier for them during the night feeds and means that the partner or grandparents can help out with the feedings whilst mum has a well-earned rest! There are special bottles designed for this process.
When purchasing your baby's bottles it can be very daunting to know which are best. It just depends on the shape and size, and how comfortable they are to hold. You can usually get newborn starter packs that contain a couple of small bottles and maybe some of the larger bottles too, along with a pacifier, bib and cleaning brush. Whichever you decide on you must make sure they fit inside the sterilizer you have chosen too.
Eventually your little baby will grow out of their baby bottle and move onto a beaker. This will be when your child has started on solids, although some mums skip the bottle stage completely and have their new born drink from a Sippy cup from day one! But whatever you decide to do, using a baby bottle means that you can have help from others to feed your baby, and most mums will agree that having some time to themselves is needed every once in a while. They are easy to clean, easy to use, and you can even buy baby bottle cases that keep your baby's milk warm whilst on the go! The time your child uses a bottle will fly by. Cherish every moment you can bottle feeding.
