I know the women select the design of the wedding cakes, but would it be alright if I could choose the flavor?
This is quite silly, but I am a sucker for having an awesome cake. I don't care about the design as my fiancée will choose that, but I just want some red velvet/authentic German chocolate in cake.
PS --- What was/is the flavor of your wedding cake?

This would be perfectly o.k. as long as your fiancee' is o.k. with it. There are many ways to have/make a wedding cake and some people separate the layers meaning they have a multi level cake stand which baker can provide. for example it will have a place for three individual cakes usually the larger on the bottom, then middle and then top or more if your have a 5 layer cake. The cakes are made to stand alone by themselves and do not touch the other layers. You could have red velvet for one of the layers, however, I prefer the cream cheese icing on red velvet cake and it is sort of a creamy color. Your bride to be could choose other layers and ie: carrot cake, apple walnut, italian creme and have them all frosted in the cream cheese icing. Then what I would do is have a separate kind of like a grooms cake (say a rectangle shape rather than round to signify that this is the groom's cake ) one that is alone by itself on another table or beside the actual wedding cake, my reasoning for this is that for a true german chocolate cake, what really makes it is the icing with the coconut and pecans and it is not a creamy,nor smooth icing/or color. So I would have the grooms cake separate so that you would be able to have the great (yummy) german chocolate icing.
