A question about a change in baby formula?
So my son had been on the Nestle Good Start supreme DHA&ARA for 6 months now. Nestle has recently changed their name and look of this formula. It is now "Nestle Good Start Gentle formula Gentle plus." They say that it is EXACTLY the same but I just want to double check and see if anyone's little one's have experienced anything negative with the change? The only difference in the ingredients is the asorbic acid. In the original can of formula it says that there are 9 mg. In the newer can there are 10 mg...that wouldn't make any difference...would it?
Just looking for personal experiences with this particular formula.
In CT, where I live, that is the formula they offer to WIC participants. I have Avary enrolled in the program and I spoke to the nutritionist about the change. She assured me that there were no differences and the switch would go completely unnoticed by Avary and her digestive system. She was right. In fact, Avary has no problems with any formulas. There have been serveral occasions where I have gotten free samples of different brands and rather than toss them, I use them for her. My nutritionist told me that as long as your baby hasn't shown any sensitivity to formulas in the past, once their digestive systems are pretty well developed and they are doing well, eating a variety of solids, etc. it's ok to give them different formulas (as long as she will drink it). They are all regulated by the FDA and have basically the same ingredients except some are milk based and some are soy based and some have added supplemental ingredients for special cases. For example, I usually give Avary the Good Start formula but when we were travelling to HI in the beginning of Feb, it was much easier to have the premixed bottels on the plane so I didn't have to deal with mixing powder, etc. I couldn't find Good Start premixed liquid formula so I bought the 6 packs of 8 oz. bottles of Similac formula. Avary did fine with it and it was a lot easier for me to feed her. (She has never rejected any food, LOL).
I guess I got a bit off topic but my point is, yes, you can certainly feed her the new Good Start without any problems. They even taste the same... (yes, I've tasted them, LOL!)
